Week 7 – RB – Matthews, Jones, Jacobs, or Ivory?

Posted by in NFL Week 7 Start 'Em Sit 'Em Advice on October 23rd, 2010 | Comment »

Question: Who should I start or sit in week 7?

RB:
Ryan Matthews vs. Patriots – Start
Thomas Jones vs. Jaguars – Start
Brandon Jacobs vs. Cowboys – Sit
Chris Ivory vs. Browns – Sit

My instincts tell me to start Ryan Matthews and Thomas Jones. Ryan Matthews is going to be at home against a team that is ranked 20th against the run. If Chargers can put up some early scores, they will run the ball a lot more in the second half. Ryan Matthews has been averaging 5-6 yards per carry the last two weeks despite his low scores. Thomas Jones is up against the Jaguars at home, who have played poorly against the run, enough said.

WR:
Larry Fitzgerald vs. Seahawks – Start
Deon Branch vs. Chargers – Start
Kenny Britt vs. Eagles – Start
Lance Moore vs. Browns
Jabar Gaffney vs. Raiders
Davone Bess vs. Steelers

TE :
Vernon Davis vs. Panthers
Benjamin Watson vs. Saints
Tony Moeaki vs. Jaguars

Answer:

I would play Thomas Jones and Chris Ivory. Ivory actually plays against the Browns tomorrow and Jones plays the Jaguars. Those are two of the easiest match ups you will ever get. Keep your WRs as is. Vernon Davis at TE obviously. That’s not even a question.

NFL Week 7 Predictions and Picks Against the Spread (4:00 Games)

Posted by in NFL Picks on October 23rd, 2010 | Comment »
NFL Week 7 Picks ATS

Can Philip Rivers overcome the injuries to his offense to top the Pats?

Only 3 4:00 games this week. The 1:00 picks were posted on Thursday and there are plenty of games to look into there. Let’s just get right down to business.

ARIZONA CARDINALS @ SEATTLE SEAHAWKS (-6.5)

Somehow both teams have managed to have winning records although neither deserves to have a winning record if you ask me. Both are 3-2. Arizona is coming off their bye week after upsetting the Saints at home thanks to 14 defensive points in the 4th quarter. The Seahawks are coming off an impressive road win over the Bears. The Seahawks play strong at home where they beat San Diego by 7 and San Fransisco 31-6. There’s just no way I’m going to give up 6.5 points to take the Seahawks. 83% of the public is taking the Seahawks, while they have 60% of the consensus at Covers.com. I’m sure they will win this game, but I’m giving the Cardinals a good shot at covering this one if they can get out of this game by a score of 24-20. Home team is 6-2 ATS in these teams last 8 games. Home field should be the difference. With the Cardinals D giving up 27.6 PPG, the Seahawks look like the play at home. Another game I’m 50/50 on ATS. I think it’s too many points, but until Arizona can improve their run defense, they’ll continue to have issues.

Prediction: Seahawks 27 – Cardinals 20

Pick Against the Spread: Seahawks -6.5 (Confidence: 1/5)

OAKLAND RAIDERS @ DENVER BRONCOS (-8)

I like the Raiders +8 here. The Raiders know how to play the Broncos as they’re 6-2 ATS in their last 8 against them. …

Week 5: Matt Schaub or Ben Roethlisberger?

Posted by in NFL Week 5 Start 'Em Sit 'Em Advice on October 23rd, 2010 | Comment »

Question: Week 5 start sit questions?

I have have a bit of a dilemma here and can’t decide on who to start this week.

QB – Ben Roethlisberger or Matt Schaub – This one is a toss up

RB – Ahman Green or Thomas Jones – I’m leaning towards Green

WR – Wes Welker, Andre Davis, Tory Holt, Dwayne Bowe, Lee Evans – Need to pick three

Answer

Ahman Green is still questionable for this week so that’s a tough one. I would play Matt Schaub because he’s going up against Miami’s defense and should put up big numbers. At wide receiver I would probably go with Wes Welker, Dwyane Boye and then Andre Davis in the third roster spot.

NFL Week 7 Predictions and Picks Against the Spread (1:00 Games)

NFL Week 7 Picks

Are the Steelers the team to beat this year?

We got back on track with two positive weeks for our overall picks in the pick ’em league. This past week our top picks in the Saints and Bears split, but we delivered a Monday Night winner going against the home dog on conservative guidance. Sorry for the lack of full updates in the last two weeks, I was away for a bit, but now back on track.

CLEVELAND BROWNS @ NEW ORLEANS SAINTS (-13)

Saints have problems with high spreads as their woes with double-digit spreads has been well documented by us. We recommended Panthers +12.5 two weeks ago which was New Orleans last game in the dome. The Saints ended up winning 16-14 and the Panthers had an easy cover. The Browns haven’t been terrible. They almost covered the 13 points against the Steelers last week until a late TD got the Steelers in the money. The Browns covered against the Ravens on the road. There’s no way I would put money on the Browns since the Saints could easily win this game 31-10, I’m just saying the spread is too high to take the Saints.

Prediction: Saints 24 – Browns 13

Pick Against the Spread: Browns +13 (Confidence: 1/5)

JACKSONVILLE JAGUARS @ KANSAS CITY CHIEFS (-9.5)

Good bet against the Jaguars despite the whole Monday Night home-dog fear factor. I’ve always dogged the Jags. They’re just not a good team. I don’t know how they got past the Colts, but they did. I never would have thought the Chiefs would be a 9.5 point favorite at any point in this season. Do the Chiefs finally have an offense? They put up 31 against the Texans, but the Texans …

South Florida Bulls vs. Cincinnati Bearcats Pick Against the Spread

Posted by in College Football, College Football Picks on October 21st, 2010 | Comment »

South Florida Bulls @ Cincinnati Bearcats (-7.5)

Friday night features a pair of 3-3 Big East teams. South Florida is coming off a loss in West Virginia 20-6. The Bulls haven’t scored more than 14 points in any of their three losses. The Bulls are ranked 59th in rushing yards per game

Collaros stays hot Friday night.

and ranked 107th in passing yards per game. The only thing that’s holding this team together right now is their defense which is ranked 18th in points allowed, which is decent.

Cincinnati is coming off an impressive win against Louisville. The Bearcats are currently on a two game winning streak, improving from 1-3 to 3-3. Zach Collaros totaled five touchdown passes against Louisville while throwing for 275 yards.

Cincinnati has covered the spread in each of these two team’s last six meetings. I don’t see the Bulls again putting up many points, while Collaros remains hot. South Florida is 1-4 ATS in their last five games, as well as 1-4 ATS in their last five road games. Cincinnati is 5-0 ATS in their last five October games, as well as 9-4 ATS in their last 13 conference games.

Let’s get back on a winning streak and win some money.

Prediction: Bearcats 24 – Bulls 10

Pick Against the Spread: Cincinnati -7.5…
