College Football Thursday-Friday Picks: Texas A&M-Miami, Oklahoma-Tulsa
Texas A&M-Miami Preview (Thursday Game)
Spread: Texas A&M @ Miami -3
The 20th ranked Aggies will face the Hurricanes on Thursday night. Texas A&M brings a great offense that puts up a lot of yards and will face a defense that doesn't give up a lot of points (with the exception of the Oklahoma game -- Miami got rocked by Oklahoma two weeks ago). The Aggies have a great running back, but the Aggies have a suspect defense. Miami has to have some sort of edge being at home so it should be a close game. I would play this game small. I'm torn between both teams: if this game was in Texas I would be all over the Aggies, but I'm just not as optimistic with them on the road. I like the Oklahoma matchup a lot more on Friday. I’ll pick the Aggies, but won’t personally play the game.Prediction: Texas A&M defeats Miami - 27-24
Pick: Texas A&M +2.5 (Confidence Level: 2/5)
Oklahoma-Tulsa Preview (Friday Game)
Spread: Oklahoma -22.5 @ Tulsa
I like Oklahoma to win in a blowout. Oklahoma is giving up 8.6 points per game this season and scoring 61.3 points per game. 22.5 is a lot of points, but look at the numbers. This year Oklahoma is 3-0 against the spread and they were even giving up 47 points to Utah State and 38.5 to North Texas. Tulsa will give up a lot of points and although they have gotten a lot of yards in their first three games, I don't see them getting many points off an outstanding Oklahoma defense. Oklahoma is my favorite to win the national championship this year. I like them slightly more than LSU and USC. They have great running backs, the defense is superb, and the quarterback play is phenomenal. Oklahoma gave up less than 2.0 rushing yards per attempt in their first 3 games. Their offense has averaged over 13 yards per passing completion each game. Tulsa doesn’t rush the ball well, so they’ll have to air it out; that should give the Sooners more opportunities to put points on the board. A one-dimensional attack against the Sooners just isn’t going to work.Prediction: Oklahoma defeats Tulsa - 47-17
Pick: Oklahoma -22.5 (Confidence Level: 4/5)
