NFL Week 6 Survivor Pool Pick: Pittsburgh Steelers

I got knocked out of my Survivor Pool last week thanks to the New York Giants. About 75% of my league picked the Giants and 71% of voters in our poll also liked the Giants. The Giants ended up losing at home to the Seahawks in embarrassing fashion and nobody saw it coming.
The Giants had an opportunity to win the game with a few seconds left on the clock. With the ball just yards away from the endzone, Eli threw a pass off the hands of his receiver and into the hands of the Seahawks who took it to the house to end the game. There goes the survivor pool season. My second pick would have been the Pittsburgh Steelers over the Tennessee Titans, but I was trying to save them for week 6 against the Jaguars.
If you were lucky enough to avoid the Giants, I would take the Pittsburgh Steelers at home in week 6 of your survivor pool. Don’t count on he Jaguars to score much on one of the NFL’s best defenses. I already used the Packers over the Broncos, but if you haven’t pulled the trigger on the Packers yet, you have another great opportunity to take them at home against the Rams.
Now assuming both the Steelers and the Packers have been picked, who do you go with? I would take the New York Jets at home on Monday night over the struggling Miami Dophlins or the Oakland Raiders at home over the Cleveland Browns. Since you may want to save the Jets for another week, especially since they are in a division game against an opponent coming of …

Week 5 is going to be a tough week in Survivor Pools. A lot of people are going to be eliminated since I don’t see a whole lot of straight up locks. A lot of these games are up for grabs for either team. Let’s recap our picks so far this year. All have been winners.
We are onto week 4 of our NFL Survivor Pool picks. We avoided taking New England last week, who was upset by the Buffalo Bills. Our week 3 survivor pool pick was the San Diego Chargers at home over the Kansas City Chiefs. Although the Chargers didn’t come close to covering the spread, they escaped with the victory. Too bad the Steelers escaped with a 3-point victory over the Colts because half of the survivor league went with the Steelers in week 3.
We’re onto week 3 for our survivor pool picks. In week 1, I ended up lucky escaping with an Arizona Cardinals victory over the Carolina Panthers. In week 2, I went with the Detroit Lions, who absolutely blew out the the Kansas City Chiefs.
I caught a huge break in my survivor pool last week. My initial pick was the Chiefs over the Bills, mostly due to the Chiefs 7-1 home record last season and Bills awful defense from last year. However, when I was doing my due diligence on the pick, I quickly realized the Chiefs were dismal on offense in the preseason, lost Charlie Weiss, and the Bills really boosted their front 7. Uneasy with the chatter of Bills upsetting the Chiefs, which ended up happening, I switched my pick to the Arizona Cardinals. I caught an extremely lucky break with a 4th-quarter punt return for the victory. The Texans and Chargers were easy picks, but I wanted to save those teams for later.
We have two more hours until kickoff. Survivor pools are becoming really popular this year among friends and co-workers. For those unfamiliar, you pick one team per week (typically straight up without considering the spread, but some leagues opt against the spread). Win and you move on, lose and you’re eliminated. You can’t pick the same team twice. Whoever survives at the end of the season gets the cash.
