King’s NFL Week 6 Picks Against the Spread

Posted by in NFL General, NFL Picks on October 11th, 2011 | Comment »

I did a little bit of research online and found out a way to calculate predicted scores of these NFL games by the week. This system goes off of both teams’ points forced, points allowed, the points forced by all of their opponents thus far, and points allowed by all their opponents this season. You end up getting an offensive and defensive number that tells you whether or not they’re performing up with the league average in offense and defense, therefore spitting out a score for the game. These are what I got for Week 6 along with plays:

Cleveland Browns @ Oakland Raiders: Browns 18.68 – Raiders 30.98

St. Louis Rams @ Green Bay Packers: Rams 11.08 – Packers 40.07

Dallas Cowboys @ New England Patriots: Cowboys 26.01 – Patriots 34.75

Jacksonville Jaguars @ Pittsburgh Steelers: Jaguars 8.14 – Steelers 22.42

Carolina Panthers @ Atlanta Falcons: Panthers 23.90 – Falcons 24.48

Indianapolis Colts @ Cincinnati Bengals: Colts 12.9o – Bengals 30.61

Buffalo Bills @ New York Giants: Bills 35.76 – Giants 26.76

New Orleans Saints @ Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Saints 32.11 – Buccaneers 21.14

Philadelphia Eagles @ Washington Redskins: Eagles 17.23 – Redskins 24.19

Houston Texans @ Baltimore Ravens: Texans 16.14 – Ravens 27.87

San Francisco 49ers @ Detroit Lions: 49ers 22.34 – Lions 25.02

Minnesota Vikings @ Chicago Bears: Vikings 19.41 – Bears 21.68

Miami Dolphins @ New York Jets: Dolphins 17.27 – Jets 27.87

Plays resulting from scores:

Raiders (-6) W

Packers (-14.5) W

Panthers (+5.5) L

Bengals (-7) *UPDATED LINE (-6) W

Bills (+3) P

Saints (-4.5) L

Redskins (+1) *UPDATED LINE (+3) L

Ravens (-6.5) W

4-3-1 overall — BIGGEST PLAY GREEN BAY WINNER

THEPASSRUSH’S NFL PICK ‘EM LEAGUE KICKS OFF

Posted by in NFL General on September 9th, 2011 | Comment »

Darren SprolesLast night we opened the NFL season with an incredible game between the Packers and Saints. What a game. Both QBs threw for over 300 yards and 3 TDs, while we saw some razzle dazzle from both the Packers and Saints special teams. What a pick up Darren Sproles was for the Saints, he’s making fantasy owners very happy. Jordy Nelson was the star in this one for the Packers (other than Aaron Rodgers and Greg Jennings of course) with 6 receptions for 77 yards and a TD.

It was good to see some old names in the pick ’em league.  2009 Champion DeezNuts is back. Memphis Gangsters is also back. I’m sure I’m leaving a few people out, but those two are legends. It’s not too late to sign up! Winner gets  free NFL Shop t-shit.  The league ID is 63470 an the password is thepassrush. There’s still 255 more regular season games.

In a somewhat surprising move, nearly a majority of people in the pick ’em league took the Saints +4.5. With a total of 26 participants, the league ended up at an even 50/50 split. In Yahoo’s consensus, 84% were siding with the Green Bay, although I believe that takes into consideration leagues that are both straight up and against the spread, skewing the data.

In the upcoming games, the Yahoo consensus is favoring the following teams in order: (1) New England; (2) Arizona; (3) Philadelphia; (4) Kansas City; and (5) Cleveland. I am high on the Patriots, Chiefs, and Falcons this Sunday, which you can read in my week 1 write-up.

I am warning right now, do not bet on the Eagles -5 against the Rams. I am an Eagles fan and very …

NFL Betting at Online Sportsbooks

Posted by in NFL General on February 2nd, 2011 | Comment »

It’s a good time to be a NFL fan as you not only are able to watch your favorite team in action each week but now it’s easier than ever to place a wager as well to make it more interesting. In the past you’d have to know a bookie and deal with all sorts of shadiness and uncertainty; that’s no longer the case with tons of reputable, trusted online sportsbooks that let you wager on NFL games as well as other sports. Whether you’re a Packers, Saints, or Bears fans, you can bet on your favorite team with just a few clicks of the mouse.

As far as choosing a sportsbook, there are plenty out there, and most also offer you the chance to play online blackjack, compete in poker tournaments, and enjoy other casino games as well. Once you get your NFL bets in, playing a little poker while you watch the games can be a perfect way to spend the afternoon. Many people worry about the safety and security of online sportsbook and other gambling sites but online wagering has become a very big business, to the point that many companies are large, reputable businesses that trade on public stock exchanges, so they definitely aren’t shady, fly-by-night operations.

One nice bonus of signing up at an online sportsbook is exactly that: a bonus. Many sportsbooks offer free cash bonuses for players that create an account, and you can often get a sportsbook bonus as well as a poker or casino bonus, which lets you enjoy the best online roulette, craps, and video poker odds, as the extra bonus money potentially gives you an edge that you’ll never find in a Las Vegas casino, where you’re …

Green Bay Packers vs. New England Patriots Pick Against the Spread

Posted by in NFL General, NFL Picks on December 19th, 2010 | Comment »

Green Bay Packers @ New England Patriots

New England hasn’t been beaten at home in more than two years. Without Rodgers tonight, Green Bay really has no hope of winning this one outright. Cover the spread? Maybe. The Packers are simply a one-dimensional team and that won’t cut it tonight. The Packers don’t have a running game at all, and with Rodgers out tonight, their passing game seems hopeless also. I feel like this is a gimme game for New England, but they need to take

No Rodgers, No Chance

advantage so they can secure home-field throughout the playoffs. What might keep the Packers in this one is that they are only one game behind the Giants for the final wild card spot. In the Packers’ last two trips to New England they won 28-10 both times, but the last time they visited was 2002.

The Packers better pray that New England keeps turning it over. They’re going to need to be very successful on special teams. Without Rodgers tonight, I don’t see them putting up very many points unless it comes from the defense or special teams.

Prediction: Patriots 34 – Packers 17

Pick Against the Spread: New England (-14)…

NFL Week 15 Picks Against the Spread

Posted by in NFL General, NFL Picks on December 19th, 2010 | Comment »

I won’t be doing every game, instead just the games that I feel very confident about.

1:00 Games:

Cleveland Browns @ Cincinnati Bengals

There is one thing that stands out to me in this game, and that is that Colt McCoy will be the starter for Cleveland. It just seems like they have so much more success with him back there at QB. Being a Cleveland fan myself, I was always a little nervous when Delhomme was the started simply because it seemed like he threw an interception every other play. The Bengals do have more talent than the Browns, but they have been just terrible this year. Cleveland is also coming off a horrible loss in Buffalo. I see an ugly game here with Cleveland winning by a small margin.

McCoy will be a big reason for the Browns winning today.

Prediction: Browns 23 – Bengals 17

Pick Against the Spread: Cleveland (+1)

Detroit Lions @ Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Can you believe Detroit beat Green Bay last week? I can’t. These two teams used to always play for the worst spot in the old NFL Central. This game means a lot more this year. With a Lions win, they eliminate Tampa Bay from any playoff hopes if they pull off the upset. Detroit has a terrible pass defense and which will allow Freeman to get his looks. I think Tampa’s run defense is worse though, and Detroit should be able to run all over the field. I see it going back and forth, but Detroit covering the spread.

Prediction: Lions 24 – Buccaneers 20

Pick Against the Spread: Detroit (+4.5)

Washington Redskins @ Dallas Cowboys

These teams are just playing for pride now. The Cowboys have some players that …
