NFL Week 13 Predictions, Picks Against the Spread
Posted by Vegas Martin in NFL Picks on December 2nd, 2009 | Comment »We’ve been on a hell of run lately. From the last Sunday night through the Friday after Thanksgiving, we were on an 11-0 run. We took some losses on Saturday due to some bad beats (Georgie Tech QB Josh Nesbitt getting injured and then missing the over on the Florida/FSU game by 3 points after FSU settles for 3 points on the 1 yard line instead of going for it on 4th down), but we had a hell of a Sunday. I placed 1 BIG bet on Sunday during the day and that was my Chargers/Vikings teaser, which was won very easily. We then won the Sunday night game and then the Monday night game as well, extending the Sunday/Monday night steak to 6-0. We then took the Saints winnings and put them on UNC Tuesday night, which also hit for us with ease.
So since last Sunday night, let’s tally up those W’s and L’s. Are you ready for this? 15-3 (83.33%). In other words, don’t mess with the master’s flow when he has a one bad week! Our winning percentage in the last week is higher than the employment rate in this country (there’s 17.8% un- and under-employment, for your information).
ONE LAST TIME. MY LAST 18 PICKS ARE 15-3. CHA-CHING!
Reminder: Don’t forget to set your picks in our Pick ‘Em league and vote in our poll.
NEW YORK JETS -3 @ BUFFALO BILLS
This is the Thursday Night game, which will be played in Toronto. I don’t like this game at all. Mark Sanchez sucks and the Bills suck too, but managed to beat the Dolphins last week, which was a huge surprise to me. This one doesn’t even deserve my attention, …
Oregon vs. Oregon State Prediction, Pick Against the Spread
Posted by Vegas Martin in College Football Picks on December 2nd, 2009 | Comment »Monday Night + Sunday Night steak goes to 6-0. We then put that money on UNC last night and were up even more. I’m looking into where to put my money next, which is why I’m eying up Thursday’s College Football card.
OREGON STATE BEAVERS @ OREGON DUCKS -10
Oregon has been unstoppable, but Oregon State has been extremely impressive as well. Going into this season, I don’t think any of us expected Oregon State to be an 8-3 team. These teams stats are practically identical on both sides of the ball.
Both teams resumes are extremely impressive. Oregon State beat UCLA by 7, Stanford by 10, and @Arizona State by 11. Oregon State’s losses are to Cincinnati by 10, Arizona by 5, and @USC by 6. Oregon has impressive wins over Arizone State by 23, USC by 27, Cal by 39. Their 2 losses come via Boise State in week 1 where they lost 19-8 and 3 weeks ago @Stanford by 9.
When Oregon plays at home, they are dominant. They are 6-0 at home. The scores of their last two home games, 44-21 and 47-20, and that was to Arizona State and USC respectively, two high quality teams. Oregon State has proven that they can play on the road, but Oregon has shown that they are a dominant football team at home. When you can beat USC 47-20, you have one hell of a football team. However, Oregon State hung in there @USC, losing by the score of 42-36.
I think the home field is the difference in this one, and I think the Ducks win this one, but I do not like the spread at +10 and feel that Oregon State has a good chance …
Monday/Sunday Night Steak: 6-0
Posted by Vegas Martin in Site News on December 1st, 2009 | Comment »
The Monday/Sunday night streak has been extended to 6-0. Thanks to a dominant win by the Saints, we came out on top for the 6th straight time on Sunday and Monday Night. Sorry for those who had to watch that game with agony (Huskers #1) due to taking the Patriots. I was smiling the whole time as the look on Tom Brady’s face in the 4th quarter was simply priceless. How could anyone ever bet against the Saints at home on Monday Night? Their offense cannot be stopped and I told you that. I was, however, expecting the Patriots to look like a team that has won 4 Super Bowls in the last decade and that team just did not show up. I was expecting them to lose by 3-7 points and did not see the spanking they received coming. What a game by the Saints.
I also wanted to let you know that my NFL picks in sum on every NFL game this week were 10-6 (62.5%), which finished in 3rd place in our Pick ‘Em League (thanks for those who join and participate each week). It feels good to get back to our winning ways, especially that our top plays on Thanksgiving and our NFL SUNDAY SPECIAL TEASER all hit with ease! Phish has just been a stud in that league with a whopping 29-18 record. Phish, if you’re reading this, give out a shout out in the comments section. Deez Nutz is another killer player who has a 27-20 record. Well done guys. If you wish, post up your favorite football team so we know which team could conquer that free NFL custom shop t-shirt that I will be sending the winner of the …
Play of the Week: Florida State Offensive Lineman
Posted by Vegas Martin in College Football on December 1st, 2009 | Comment »This guy must have done this as a joke because that’s what his team played like on Saturday! Check out this video of FSU’s right tackle not even moving after they snap the football. How does he not move when all other 21 plays are running around on the field? This has to be a joke. The video comes from NFL Monday Night countdown:

SMART BET College Football Week 12 Recap
Posted by Brandon Phillips in NFL General on November 30th, 2009 | Comment »Overall Profit 4.7 units.
We played a ton of games this week and if you were with me all the way you cashed several more winners than losers. The key to the week was our two big plays with Auburn and UCONN both covering even though UCONN was close until the final minutes. My Game of Year Record is now at 3-1 a solid 75%. This week brings about several “Championship Games” beginning with games on Thursday.
As you may or may not know, I will be breaking down every single Bowl game here on the site. I will make recommendations on all games, but will clearly indicate which games your money should be on. There will be a ton of live dogs to play over the next month or so.
Thanks for all the comments and to all those who bought me a drink.
THETRIPLEDOUBLE.COM is in full swing and I have isolated several teams early this year that are going to make us a ton of money, hope to have you on board.
Good Luck…
New England Patriots vs. New Orleans Saints Pick Against the Spread
Posted by Vegas Martin in NFL Picks on November 30th, 2009 | Comment »The Sunday-Monday Night streak has been extended to 5-0 thanks to the Ravens pulling it out in overtime and cashing in our 7-point teaser of Ravens -0.5, over 28.5. You can never go wrong betting against a rookie in his first start and that was the difference in this one as DE Paul Kruger picked off the rookie by dropping back into coverage while Ray Lewis blitzed, getting the pick, and setting up the field goal. Thank you to those who bought me a beer for taking down my NFL play of the week, my teaser of Chargers -6.5 and Vikings -3.5. When I see Paul Kruger or Ray Rice, I’ll be sure to offer them a cold one for last night’s big win.
NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS @ NEW ORLEANS SAINTS -1.5
Tonight is the GAME OF THE YEAR — not as in this pick is a lock, but as in the best game to watch in the last 3 years, maybe since the 2006 Rose Bowl if I might say so (see and vote on our new poll). Maybe this is the second game of the year after we were treated to the Colts and Patriots just not too long ago. This is expected to be the most wagered game of the year.
My previous stance on this game when the spread was released was to tease it by adding 7 points to the Patriots +3 that they got to start to make it Patriots +10 and take the over 48.5. If you got into that teaser while the Pats were getting 3 points, I still like that pick, but I’m going with the Saints -1.5.
I think the Saints win this one in a very, very …
Sunday Night Play: Steelers vs. Ravens
Posted by Vegas Martin in NFL Picks on November 29th, 2009 | Comment »Hope you capitalized off of the SUNDAY SPECIAL TEASER: Chargers -6.5, Vikings -3.5. That was my biggest and only play of the day. Although we had an 11-0 streak going into Saturday, we gave some of that back with 2 bad beats on Saturday, but we were able to make up for that with the teaser today.
I’m still thinking about what to do tonight. The spread moved from Ravens -9 to Ravens -7.5, so a bunch of people are siding with the Steelers and the points. First the injuries, Roethlisberger is out, Polamalu is out, and Suggs is out. Rookie Dennis Dixon gets the start tonight. This is his first start of the season and his only action was 2 preseason games where he wasn’t very impressive. He was a dynamic playmaker in college for Oregon last year and was also a Heisman hopeful. He brings an elusive running game, but I am not expecting much from the kid in his first start against the Ravens.
The over under is set extremely low at 35.5. All signs point to this game and the under, but with Polamalu and Suggs out, that may open up some scoring opportunities. Dixon is also capable of breaking open a run as well. You can also expect the Steelers to call run after run and kill that clock.
I want to do a teaser here. I don’t think you take the Steelers at +14.5 due to the rookie factor against a very good defense on the road. I like the Ravens at -0.5, so you’re going to have to debate whether to tease the over/under to over 28.5 or under 42.5.
This could easily be a 16-13 game or this could be a …
