NFL Divisional Playoff Picks Against the Spread

Posted by in NFL Picks on January 14th, 2010 | Comment »

At first site, I thought the spreads were average, but now I’m starting to fall more in love with my picks. But you’re not going to make big money in the playoffs — the easy money was made betting against the Lions, Raiders, Rams, Bucs, Browns, and Chiefs in the first half of the season before the books caught on. That part of the season is over.  Now we have some fun money to play around with and that’s all we’re going to do. No big bets for me this week, but a little something to keep things fun.

You should also sign up for a FACEBOOK PAGE, which I just made, to keep in touch with us through the offseason.  Do it! I’m doing the pick ’em league next year too with the winner getting an NFL custom shop t-shirt. Deez Nutz just won a Vikings t-shirt.  Pretty cool.

Onto last week’s summary.

Luckily, we hit the Ravens last week.  I told you Ray Rice would have a big game and that Randy Moss would get shut down, but I didn’t want to wager too much on the road against the undefeated Tom Brady at home in the playoffs.  But I went with my gut and took the Ravens to get a little back after the Bengals let me down.

My thesis on Bengals winning at home was wrong since Mark Sanchez didn’t suck like he usually does since all he had to do is hand the ball off to that fat ass from Iowa University who had a monster game and that Darrelle Revis guy shut down Chad Johnson.  Fortunately for Sanchez and his half-stache, he has the privilege of having the best offensive line in football.…

NFL Wild Card Weekend Picks Against the Spread

Posted by in NFL Picks on January 6th, 2010 | Comment »

Playoff football is finally here.  Last week, our picks went 3-1 with our sole loss by a half point. Some of you may have even been lucky enough to have that one push if you got the line at -4 instead of -4.5.

We’ve also been cleaning up in hockey, as we added 3 units of profit to our yearly total yesterday and we are up a whopping 12 units.  We hit a rough spot early in the season with some unfortunate shootouts, but a little perseverance and hot streak has us up big.

This week, I’m eying up the Wild Card lines to see if there are any good plays to make. Unfortunately, 3 of the games are rematches from week 17.  When has that ever happend?

NEW YORK JETS @ CINCINNATI BENGALS -2.5

The Jets blanked the Bengals 37-0 last week to earn a shot in the playoffs.  That game meant nothing for the Bengals.  Carson Palmer played just a half before handing the game over to J.T. O’Sullivan.  I think this is a chance to take advantage of last week’s game.  Without last week, I’m sure the Bengals would be 4-6.5 point favorites.  The Jets D will keep this game tight, but I will have to bet against the rookie in his NFL playoff debut. The Bengals are not going to let the Jets run for over 250 yards again. Sanchez threw for a mere 63 yards last week. When the playoff pressure is on, I think you’ll see him throw a pick or two to the Bengals. I think the Bengals are the best play to make this week.

PHILADELPHIA EAGLES @ DALLAS COWBOYS -4

All of you know that I’m an Eagles fan.  Sure, …

NFL Week 17 Picks Against the Spread

Posted by in NFL General on January 1st, 2010 | Comment »

It’s Week 17 in the NFL and playoff spots are on the line.  Hopefully you took down Florida and Ohio State today in the Bowl games today.  Those were both easy wins in the big bowl games.  Sorry Brandon’s picks this Bowl season have been dismal.  He had a good season overall, but I found some of those calls on some Bowl games rather suspect.  There’s a lot of meaningless games to gauge, but here is what I like tomorrow.

1.) Bears -3 over LIONS — Hopefully the Bears can continue what they started last week.  Even though this game is meaningless, I think the Bears have more heart than the Lions and want to end the season with a big win.

2.) Steelers -3 over DOLPHINS — This is a potential playoff game for the Steelers and when they have to rise to the occasion, they usually do.  Like the win over the Packers.

3.) Titans -4.5 over SEAHAWKS — The Seahawks have been terrible and the Titans should run over them. However, the Titans D has been a concern lately and I don’t love them on the road, but I think they win this one.  A 3-4 point win won’t surprise me though, but I don’t see this game playing out any other way than a domination by the Titans.

4.) PANTHERS -7 over Saints — Saints will be resting players. Brees will not see any action as he’s the #3 QB today. Mark Brunell will start for the Saints. Look for the Panthers to roll over the Saints B Team.

PICKS ON THE BUBBLE:

5.) CHARGERS -3.5 over Redskins — Hard to gauge what kind of effort you’ll get from the Chargers since they have the 2nd …

NFL Week 16 Picks Against the Spread

Posted by in NFL General on December 24th, 2009 | Comment »

Normally I would do the analysis on every NFL game, but I’m running short on time with Christmas coming up and there just aren’t many good spreads this week.

I hit 4/4 picks last night at THE ONETIMER for 6 units of profit and we’re back in the black in the NHL. Merry Christmas to you if you took down those picks!  My NHL mojo is coming back to me, but sometimes you get hot and sometimes you get cold in the NHL.  These days, I’m taking more games where I’m giving up the goal-and-a-half for better odds rather than laying down the extra cheddar on the moneyline and I’ve been hitting those picks.

Here is what I like in the NFL this week:

1.) PHILADELPHIA -7 over Denver — Denver is a bit of a fraud.  They were killed by the Colts despite Brandon Marshall’s 21 receptions, 200 yards, and 2 TDs, and they just lost home to the RAIDERS.  If you lose at home to the Raiders, you are a pretender, not a contender.  Yes, the Eagles also lost to the Raiders, but that was in the beginning of the season, and that was when they were on the road I and I said “watch out since the Eagles sometimes play awful when they travel out west.”  The Eagles have won 5 in a row now and there’s no reason for them not to make it 6.  They’re hot right now and no team plays better December football than the Eagles.  The return of Brian Dawkins will be an emotional moment for me.  I, of course, am a diehard Eagles fan, so of course I’m picking them.

2.) COLTS -3 over Jets (1st Half Line) — Expect the …

Worst Trick Play in the History of Ever

What are the Redskins thinking?  They line up in the formation.  Giants call a time out. And they try the exact same play.  You have the center attempting a delay and no offensive linemen to protect against the Giant’s 3 down lineman, 2 linebackers, and a safety? What are you thinking?

SMART BET BOWL PREDICTIONS

Posted by in College Football Picks on December 18th, 2009 | Comment »

Great to be back! Bowl games are a great opportunity to make a ton of cash as there are a ton of live dogs to be played.

I will have a write for probably all of the bowl games and recommendations.

Wyoming vs Fresno State (-11): for 1 unit. – This Fresno State has played a brutal schedule playing some of the toughest teams in the nation including Cincinnati, Boise State, and a strong Wisconsin team. However, they did lose all three of those games. Plus you factor in the travel schedule and they went from Cincinnati to Hawaii, which had to be grueling on this squad. I think the time off will be a real difference here for Fresno State. Down the stretch this team just looked tired. I love that they have had a couple weeks to rest and get focused for the Bowl game. Another important factor is that most of Fresno State’s players have been in a bowl game before so they will be ready for the media and extra hype and attention that comes with playing in these games. Wyoming is probably one the best college stories of the year. The way they got things turned around and are now in a bowl game is huge. However, that could be their downfall. They may just be happy to be there instead of ready to play one of the best opponents they have played all year long. Wyoming has also been burned by the run all year long and Fresno State has run the ball very well against almost everyone they have played. Lay the points here with Fresno State as they win going away 44-24. I also recommend playing the OVER. L for 1.1 units

Brandon Is Back

Posted by in Site News on December 17th, 2009 | Comment »

Brandon is back to posting his NCAA basketball picks at THE TRIPLE DOUBLE.  He had one game on last night’s card and it was a winner.  You can read why he had to take a short absence over there.  He has an NBA over/under play tonight.  He’ll be back to posting college football during the thick of the Bowl season.…
