Week 1 – Start/Sit – Felix Jones or Darren Sproles?

Posted by in NFL Week 1 Start 'Em Sit 'Em Advice on September 10th, 2009 | 1 Comment

Question: Which player should I put in the flex for week 1?

Since Marshawn Lynch is suspended the first three games of the season, I moved Ray Ricce from my FLEX to my RB2. Now I need to decide who to start in the FLEX. Do I go with Felix Jones (vs. TB) or Darren Sproles (vs. OAK). Thanks for your help.

You have to go with Felix Jones in the FLEX. It’s not even a question. With his speed, he has the ability to pick up huge chunks of yards and will have a huge role in the Cowboys offense. While Darren Sproles also has the same home run capabilities, Jones should be getting more touches for the Cowboys than Sproles should be getting with the Chargers.

    Tough call.
The FF sites don’t agree with some supporting Felix and some supporting Mason. However, I would go with Felix simply because he’s a RB and not a WR.

Tampa doesn’t have the dominating run defense it used to and since Dallas is likely to be leading the entire game, they will run the ball a lot which will get Felix carries.

On the other hand, Mason could have a big day against a weak KC defense, but again, I think Baltimore will be leading from the beginning, so they are likely to run the ball more.
