Week 2 – RB – Start or Sit – Ryan Matthews or Stevan Ridley?

Posted by in NFL Week 2 Start 'Em Sit 'Em Advice on September 14th, 2012 | 1 Comment

Question:

I have Ryan Mathews and Steven Ridley on my squad. Mathews was out week 1, but should be back in the lineup in week 2 against the Tennesee Titans. Do I start Matthews this week or give him another week before I put him in my starting lineup?

Answer:

Ryan Mathews is itching to get back on the field and he should play this week. What a performance from Stevan Ridley though in week 1. 125 yards and 1 TD. New England is at home and facing the Cardinals. Ridley may have another big week. The Chargers may decide to be cautious and have Mathews split carries with Ronnie Brown. I would go with Ridley this week.…

Week 1 – Flex – Sit or Start – Maurice Jones-Drew or Ronnie Brown?

Posted by in NFL Week 1 Start 'Em Sit 'Em Advice on September 4th, 2012 | Comment »

Question: Which player should I start in my flex in week 1?

I’m in a standard league that has 3 flex spots.

Here are my players: Maurice Jones-Drew, DeAngelo Williams, Ronnie Brown, Kevin Smith, Kendall Wright, Robert Meachem.

I’ve pretty much  locked in DeAngelo Williams and Kevin Smith. I’m wondering who should start in the last spot.

Answer:

Expect MJD’s carries to be limited this week against the Vikings. The guy ended his holdout just a few days ago and may not even play. If he plays, I expect Rashad Jennings to get the majority of the work with MJD getting just a few carries. With MJD’s carries limited, I wouldn’t trust him in my starting roster.

I really like DeAngelo Williams this week. Tampa Bay’s defense ranked 32nd against the run last season and Jonathan Stewart is still recovering from a sprained ankle that he suffered in the preseason. DeAngelo Williams is going to have a monster game.

Kevin Smith is the other no brainer with Michael Leshoure suspended and Jahvid Best on the PUP. Kevin Smith will be getting all of the carries for the Lions against a Rams defense that is very poor against the run. I’m expecting a monster game from DeAngelo.

In the last spot, I am between Ronnie Brown and Robert Meachem. Check on the status of Ryan Matthews. He may have to sit week 1 out due to his broken collarbone. If Matthews is a scratch in week 1, Ronnie Brown is your man. If Ryan Matthews is set to start, I would take a shot on Robert Meachem and hope that he burns the Raiders with the deep ball from Philip Rivers. I need to see what Kendall Wright is all about …

Week 8 – RB – Ricky Wiliams, Ryan Grant, or Knowshon Moreno

Posted by in NFL Week 8 Start 'Em Sit 'Em Advice on November 5th, 2009 | Comment »

Question: Which RB should I start in week 8 on the fantasy football team?

Which RB should I start this week?

Ricky Williams @ NYJ
Ryan Grant vs. MIN
Knowshon Moreno @ BAL

Answer:

Moreno is splitting carries and will face one of the best run defenses in the league so I would bench Moreno. Minnesota is also a strong run defense, so I don’t like starting Ryan Grant. I like Ricky William against the Jets since the Dolphins will bring the wildcat with Ronnie Brown and Williams should get his yards. Even though Williams is only getting about 15 touches a game, he is putting up great numbers.
