SMART BET College Football Plays for Saturday 10/10

Posted by in College Football Picks on October 9th, 2009 | 12 Comments

Overall Profit +0.6 units.

Solid win last night with Nebraska. They struggled early, but pulled away late.  That brings us to 2-0 this week with winners on Troy and Nebraska.

I love the card this weekend and think there is a ton of money to be made.

1. Houston at Mississippi State (+2) or (-1) for 1 unit (L): I bet this game on Tuesday at +2, however the line currently is at -2 and -2.5 in some places. There is no way Houston deserves to be favored on the road against an SEC opponent. Plus Houston’s BCS hopes are already out the window. MSU has lost 2 straight at home to difficult SEC opponents. I just don’t see them losing three in a row at home.

2. UCONN (+7.5) at Pittsburgh for 1 unit (W): Another game showing great line movement as UCONN is only a 6 point underdog at the Hilton. UCONN has continued to impress me all year as I have counted them out on several occassions. I think this game is low scoring and will gladly take the points.

3. Iowa State (+19.5) at Kansas for 1 unit (W)

4. Bowling Green at Kent (+3.5) for 1 unit (W)

5. Stanford at Oregon State (+1) for 2 units (W)

6. Oregon at UCLA (+3.5) for 1 unit (L)

7. Kentucky (+9) vs South Carolina for 1 unit (W)

8. Wisconsin at Ohio State (-16) for 1 unit (W): first road test for Wisconsin. Tough spot for Wisconsin as Ohio State isn’t the easiest place to start your road Big Ten play.

9. Arizona State (-21) at Washington State for 1 unit (L): ASU was disappointing last week, they come much more focused this weekend.

Good Luck.

If any of you are looking to make a play on tonight’s game between Louisiana Tech and Nevada here is my input. There has been considerable line movement in this game since the lines posted Monday. There are several groups in Las Vegas that will push the number one way then buy it back right before kickoff, essentially giving them a way to win the game on both sides. If this line stays at -11 then make a small play on Nevada. However, if this line starts to creep down towards -10 or -9.5 then either consider playing LT or staying away from the game completely. My stats and power rankings have Nevada being a solid play, but -11 points seems a little high.

    Good Luck.

I am normally not a fan of doing this, but if you got Mississippi State at +2 or anything positive and the fact that it is now -2.5 and may move much higher tomorrow, consider buying it back. A 5 or 6 point swing gives you a great chance to cash both bets. Just something to consider if the line continues to move.

Hope some of you took my advice. Line moved very little this afternoon. I even took Nevada at -11.5 the highest line I saw. I will not count this play towards my overall total.

I got a text last night from a friend that I haven’t even talked to in a few months, but he won the college football Hilton sportsbook contest last year for $35,000 and he said Kentucky was a must bet! I am not going to lay the farm, but I like them in this spot.

I just bet Kentucky at +9.5 at Palace Station, but Hilton has it at +8.5. So I still like the play.

    Good Luck!

May your losers be small and your winners be large.

I’m with 711 on this one. I think South Carolina beats up on Kentucky. The line moved to +12. A lot of money is on SC. At least you have the 3-0 lead 10 minutes into the 1st. Good luck.

Nice win on the Kentucky game Brandon and sticking it to all the haters. I’m going to begin adding Green W’s and Red L’s to the games so people can easily track our picks.

You probably also noticed the new comments style with the bigger image and name. I hope people like it. I think it rocks. Hopefully people continue commenting and adding their feedback on games.

Hey guys got some late info on some games so I am adding a couple:

    1. Utah for 1 unit
    2. Maryland for 1 unit

If you don’t already have Oregon State jump on it!!

    Good Luck!

If didn’t live in Vegas, I would likely not have had that Kentucky game. That doesn’t mean I am alway right, but there was a lot of smart money on Kentucky.
