THE PASS RUSH: Hotter Than Vegas In July

Posted by in NFL Picks on October 12th, 2009 | 10 Comments

After kicking ass and taking names on Saturday in college football, THE PASS RUSH took those winnings and went up even more on Sunday.  THE PASS RUSH played the Vikings -10, Giants -14.5, and Eagles -15 and they were all winners.  The pick of the week was the Vikings and I simply could not understand the low spread on a team that does not score.  If the books are giving out free money, I am going to take it.

The Vikings were the ONLY pick this year that I gave a rare 5/5 rating. A 5/5 rating is achieved on only 1-2% of my picks.  I was also very high on the Giants, which you could read in my articles for the NFL Week 5 football action.  I typically recommend sticking to the top 1 or 2 NFL spreads each week, but I also laid down some money on my Philadelphia Eagles since I attended the game and knew they would kick another NFL retard’s ass.  Great, great game.

Now there were some losers in my top 5.  I’m not going to pretend that there weren’t.  The Steelers were unable to cover by 2.5 points.  The Panthers failed to cover by a half point, but you might have been able to get that game at -3 to push.  I also misunderestimated (I believe that term was coined by either George Bush or Barack Obama, or was it Roger Clemons?) the Denver Broncos.  We can now finally say that the Broncos are legit.  I picked the Patriots to cover the 3 points since I couldn’t see the Broncos moving to 5-0 against the Patriots, but they did in overtime.

Lastly, my Colts -3 pick over the Titans also hit.  I had 3 games listed in my 5th spot since there was a 3-way tie for the 5th best game in my opinion.

In the end, I played the Eagles, Giants, and Rams, and cashed in with those and put a small bet on the Colts in the Sunday Night game.  A 4-0 week for me.  For the 7 picks in my “top 5 plays of the week” we scored a 4-3 record with a perfect 3-0 for the top 3.

Great week.

Well done Martin and Brandon… i was wondering if you guys ever dable in parlays or do you recommend staying clear of them… my record with them is not good … im considering changing them to four team round robins or dropping all those bets all together… IF i just did straight plays with your picks ats this week i would have been up… instead the i took missippi state and ucla in some of my parlays and with tons of winners but those two losers i ended up neg… i did get Vikings Steelers Colts in a teaser and also i got Nebraska with Indie in a two team parlay…so overall not too bad… only neg 2 units… but i feel with such a great week with you guys i should have been up… anyhow great work and any advice on those parlays is appreciated…

I dabble in parlays sometimes. Every now and then I’ll do a small 6-7 teamer, but they rarely hit since 1 team usually ends up screwing you. Imagine how many people the Bengals screwed who had the Ravens -0.5 in their teaser card. That’s exactly why they’re teasers. I wish I would have parlayed the Vikings/Giants/Eagles, but then again, I might have also added in the Steelers who would have busted my card.

If I ever do a parlay, it’s a very nominal amount compared to my bankroll. It can be a great way to boost your earnings if it does hit, but in my experience, it’s rare when they do hit and if it does, you’re just covering your losses on past parlay losses.

    Good luck.

There are a couple of ways to play parlays that I have found to be relatively successful. The format is listed as follows:

Example: You like four games on any given Saturday or Sunday. You take the 2 strongest teams and make them the key bet.

Bet #1: 2-Team Parlay with Team A and Team B (both being your strongest bets of the day), for 2 units.

    Bet #2: 3-Team Parlay with Team A, C, and D for 1 unit.

    Bet #3: 3-Team Parlay with Team B, C, and D for 1 unit.

    Why this works?

    Lets do the math 1 unit = $100, 2 units = $200

Scenario #1: Teams A and B win, but Teams C and D lose

Bet #1 wins, you win $528 with odds of -110, normal for football spreads.

Bet #2 and #3 would lose for -$200 loss, and you would win $328.

    Scenario #2: If team A, C, and D wins OR If team B, C, and D wins

Bet #1 losses you lose $200

Bet #3 losses as well you lose $100 for a total loss of $300.

Bet #2 would win, you win $595, for a total win of $295

Scenario #3: All the teams lose you are out $400

Scenario #4: All the teams win you are up over $1500

So if you are going to do parlays I would do something like what I have listed above

wow … i like what you wrote down and i see how it can come together nicely… ty both for giving me a heads up… super newbie here to this stuff… but i have been gambling all my life mostly poker… Thank you again guys…

Quick question for Brandon… I know when Martin puts up his final nfl picks he likes to put them in order from strongest play to weakest… I was curious when you wrote down your four college picks for this week (i do understand that you just got them up early for us so we can look for good lines) did you write them 1-4 in the order of strength or did you just throw them up?
Wishing you both another great week!!!

For me personally, rating them like VM does not work, I end up playing too many games. Therefore, if I release a play it is strong and I have put money on it personally. If it is a 2 unit play I have put even more money on it as I feel it is a lock, which I don’t release very often, as evident by the fact I have only released 1 or 2, 2 unit plays.

    Thanks for all the comments.
