Week 3 Start or Sit: Steve Smith or Johnny Knox?

Posted by in NFL Week 3 Start 'Em Sit 'Em Advice on September 20th, 2011 | Comment »

Question: Week 3 start and sit – Steve Smith (CAR) or Johnny Knox?

I have Wes Welker, Hakeen Nicks, Steve Smith (CAR) and Johnny Knox as WRs on my fantasy team. I am obviously going with Wes Welker and Hakeem Nicks as my first two starters. I have to decide between Steve Smith and Johnny Knox.

Steve Smith gets a new QB and a tough CIN corner who shut down Randy Moss in week 1 and Anquan Boldin in week 2. Should I start Johnny Knox instead? What do you think?

Answer:

I don’t like the matchup the Chicago Bears have, so I would stick with Steve Smith. Johnny Knox hasn’t been as consistent. Although he has surprise upside with 100+ yard games, he also has an equal chance of being held to under 20 yards.

Week 3 NFL Survivor Pool Pick: Steelers or Chargers

Posted by in NFL Survivor Pool Picks on September 18th, 2011 | Comment »

NFL Week 3 Survivor Pool PickWe’re onto week 3 for our survivor pool picks. In week 1, I ended up lucky escaping with an  Arizona Cardinals victory over the Carolina Panthers. In week 2, I went with the Detroit Lions, who absolutely blew out the the Kansas City Chiefs.

In week 3, there are several viable options on the table. Since I didn’t pick the Pittsburgh Steelers in week 2, I can take them against the struggling Indianapolis Colts in week 3. I could also opt for the San Diego Chargers at home, who face the struggling Kansas City Chiefs.

A lot of people played the Chargers week 1, but I opted to play the Chargers later in the season and this is the perfect opportunity to take them. With Jamaal Charles out for the Chiefs, San Diego clearly looks like the play. I would like to save the Steelers for week 5 or week 6 when they are at home against the Tennessee Titans and Jacksonville Jaguars. I’m going San Diego Chargers in week 3 of my survivor pool.…

Week 2 – RB – Start or Sit – Felix Jones or Willis McGahee?

Posted by in NFL Week 2 Start 'Em Sit 'Em Advice on September 18th, 2011 | Comment »

Question: Which RB do I start in week 2?

I’m not too high on Felix Jones after his dud last week. I have Willis McGahee on my bench and he is getting almost all of the carries in Denver. I also have Pierre Thomas on my bench, who is capable of putting up some serious points on the Saints offense, but he has some injury concerns.

Best answer:

I would bench Felix Jones. I always concerned with the amount of touches Felix Jones gets. He can put up some fantasy monster games, but he’s far too inconsistent for me to start every week. With concerns remaining over Knowshon Moreno’s knee, Willis McGahee should still continue to get the bulk of carries for Denver so I think you should put him in your starting lineup.

Week 2 – Start/Sit – Peterson or Jones-Drew? Harvin or Holmes?

Posted by in NFL Week 2 Start 'Em Sit 'Em Advice on September 18th, 2011 | 1 Comment

Question: I need help picking my RB and WR in Week 2?

Start 2 of:
Adrian Peterson
Maurice Jones-Drew
Beanie Wells
Fred Jackson
Ryan Grant
Pierre Thomas

Start 3 of:
Brandon Lloyd
Brandon Marshall
Percy Harvin
Santonio Holmes

Answer:

Adrian Peterson – For obvious reasons.

Fred Jackson – He has a great matchup against Oakland and should put up big numbers. He looked great last week.

Out of the WR, I would sit Percey Harvin because I believe that Harvin isn’t able to put up consistent numbers yet.  The other three should be able to put up good numbers.  And this is coming from a Vikings fan!

Do not start Maucine Jones-Drew with Mercedes Lewis hurt along with the Jaguars other primary reciever. The Jets can just stack the box and shut down Jones-Drew. I would not be surprised if the Jets completely shut down the Jaguars.…

CFB Week 3 Picks Against the Spread

Posted by in College Football Picks on September 17th, 2011 | Comment »

CFB Week 3 Picks ATSLast week my college football picks went 3-2 ATS. I won on Stanford, TCU, and TCU over, but fell short on California and Iowa, whose games went into overtime. My forte is NFL football, but I usually like to put up a few college football picks up on Saturday morning and place some modest wagers in comparison to the NFL action. I have five picks for you today. If you’re a new visitor to the site, be sure to sign up for our pick ’em league before Sunday. Good luck.

Northwestern (-5) over ARMY/Under 54.5 — Army’s defense has struggled so far this year. Northwestern is a solid team that was able to beat Boston College on the road. Army solely relies on its run game as its passing game is non-existent. Although Army piles up yards on the ground, Northwestern has a more balanced offensive attack. Unfortunately, Northwestern’s QB Dan Persa is out, but his backup was efficient in managing the game last week, 10/13 for 104 yards, while relying on his running game. Northwestern has averaged 273 rushing yards in their two games, while Army has given up an average of 217 rushing yards per game. With both teams relying on their running game, the clock should be eaten up and the points should come in under 54.5.  Northwestern 31 – Army 20.

FINAL: Army 21 – Northwestern 14. Hit on the under, loss on the spread.

Wisconsin (-16.5) over Northern Illinois @ Soldier Field — Wisconsin is strong on both sides of the ball. They have a solid passing game with QB Russell Wilson and a tremendous running game to boot. Their defense is also one of the top D’s in the nation. They trampled UNLV …

Week 2 – RB – Darren Sproles or DeAngelo Williams?

Posted by in NFL Week 2 Start 'Em Sit 'Em Advice on September 16th, 2011 | 1 Comment

Question

I am in a non PRR league. I have Carnell Williams (will start for the injured Steven Jackson), Darren Sproles, and DeAngelo Williams. Which RB should I start this week in week 2?

Answer

Carnell Williams. With jackson out, you know he’s going to get a lot of carries for the Rams. Bradford also has an injured hand so the Rams should be running the football a lot this weekend. Ingraham is getting the bulk of the carries for the Saints so it’s unknown how many touches Sproles can get, but he’s always due for fantasy upside.

Question: Which RB do I go with in week 2?

I’m in a PPR league and have Ray Rice, Rashard Mendenhall and Mike Tolbert. Who do I start?

Best answer:

Ray Rice is  starter every week. I also expect Mendenhall to bounce back against a horrendous Seahawks defense. Good Luck
